The elimination of trace arsenic via hollow fiber supported liquid membrane: experiment and mathematical model

Abstract This work presents the elimination of arsenic ions from synthetic produced water via hollow fiber supported liquid membrane (HFSLM). Results demonstrate that in wastewater can be successfully treated to meet standard as formulated by Ministry Industry and Natural Resources Environment, Thailand. The discharged limit industrial must not greater than 250 ppb. In a single-step operation, are extracted stripped. Percentages extraction stripping proved 100% 98%, respectively. Optimum conditions found 0.68 M Aliquat 336 dissolved toluene membrane, at pH 12 feed solution, having mixture HCl thiourea synergistic strippant, flow rates both strippant solutions 100 mL/min. A mathematical model, developed predict final concentration solutions, is seen fit well with experimental results.
